XENIA TOWNSHIP — Quick acting employees may have saved a potentially dangerous situation from becoming worse at the Bob Evans Farms plant on Birch Road in Xenia Township.
According to Deputy Fire Chief Greg Beegle, the fire broke out a little before midnight in a temporary office area. The employees in the area were able to extinguish the fire prior to XTFD’s arrival at the plant.
“The smoke conditions were handled by the fire personnel,” Beegle said, adding that the department was on scene for approximately two hours.
He said the plant was already in shut-down when the fire occurred.
“They had closed and were in the process of cleaning up already,” he said. “Everything was covered so there was no contamination.”
Beegle said the cause of the fire has not been determined and is still under investigation.
