XENIA — The Xenia Police Division promoted two current staff members and swore in a pair of new officers to bring the department to its full strength of 45 sworn positions.
Steve Lane was promoted from sergeant to captain and will oversee patrol services. He has 21 years of service with the division. Scott Beegle was promoted from detective to sergeant and will be assigned to a patrol officer supervisor. Beegle has 15 years of service with the police division and served in the Army for four years.
Luciana Lieff and Chad Roelker were hired as police officers and will be assigned to a field training officer. Lieff comes to the Xenia Police Division from the Yellow Springs Police Department with one year of experience. Roelker comes to the Xenia Police Division from the Silverton Police Department with a total of 11 years experience.
A swearing-in ceremony was held on April 1, 2014 in Xenia Municipal Court. Acting Judge David Mesaros administered a sworn oath to each individual. The openings were created by the retirement of Detective Fred Meadows, who took a position with the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office and Captain Doug Doherty being hired as the new police chief for the Bellbrook Police Department.
