GREENVILLE – A new Greenville Subway restaurant is moving into a space at the old Marsh building on Martin Street.

The building is expected to open at the end of next week, and will be the second restaurant within the city limits. Jeff and Susan Vogelmeier own both Greenville restaurants, which boosts their holdings to six total franchises.

According to Subway District Manager Jamie Burchett, the owners have been looking to move into a central Greenville location for around three years, mainly due to the concentration of residential housing.

“I believe it’s going to be a good location,” said Burchett. “Greenville has certainly been good to the Vogelmeiers, and they’ve loved having a store over here and are looking forward to having another one.”

The decision to move into the Marsh building was made about six months ago, and now plans are nearly finished to open the restaurant.

According to city officials, the main Marsh building has sat empty for around 10 years, and is currently owned by Paragon Realty, LLC out of Indianapolis.

“We’re really hoping that its going to help this side of town,” said Burchett. “Certainly we hope there’s some more tenants that hope to be in the building with us.”

The Subway restaurant is actually leasing two spaces due to its large dining area.

“This subway location will be our biggest space,” said Burchett, reflecting on the size of the other five restaurants she manages.
