FAIRBORN — Wright State University will lower and clean a replica of the Wright brothers’ 1903 Flyer that hangs in the Dunbar Library atrium on Wright State’s Dayton Campus during the week of June 9.
Hanging 16 feet off the ground, the replica Wright Flyer will be lowered at 9 a.m. Monday, June 9. It will remain within the Dunbar Library atrium, on the second floor, all week while it is inspected and cleaned. The plane will be rehung on Friday, June 13. The plane is a full-size replica of the 1903 Flyer, the first machine to achieve controlled powered flight.
Many of the original volunteers who worked on the plane will return to Wright State to help with the lowering of the plane.
