XENIA — The Friends of Xenia Station is sponsoring Xenia’s first junked bike art competition as part of the 2014 Xenia Community Festival. The Festival is still a few months away, but now is the time to start planning and creating your work of art. It could possibly win a prize.

Artists of all ages, individually or as a group, are invited to take an old, unused bicycle and turn it into a fun, quirky, fancy, beautiful, fascinating piece of art. The “creations” will be displayed during the Xenia Community Festival at Shawnee Park 10 a.m. to 9 pm. Friday, Sept. 9.

Festival goers will vote for their favorite, with a grand prize of $100 being awarded to the work voted best of show. First, second and third place winners will each receive a one-year Friends of Xenia Station membership.

Interested persons need to submit an “Intent to Participate” form with the required $25 entry fee for each submission by August 15. Finished bikes must be delivered to Xenia Station Bike Hub, 150 S. Miami Ave. Saturday, Sept. 6.

For complete competition details and to download the participation form, go to the “Xenia Community Festival” page on FOXS’ website, www.xeniastatioin.org. For more information contact event coordinator Kathleen Lewis at (937) 376-1080 or email info@xeniastation.org.
