XENIA — Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old Xenia woman, who was found in a car in the area of North Fair Street early Wednesday evening.
An autopsy is being conducted on Rochelle Barnes, whose body was discovered by area residents after they noticed the vehicle behind an abandoned house.
“We don’t know exactly a cause of death or anything like that,” said Xenia Police Division Capt. Scott Anger. “It appeared she had been there for a little while. At this point we’re not suspecting foul play.”
Greene County Coroner Chief Investigator Jim Huston confirmed the autopsy would take about eight weeks and questioned the attention the case is getting.
“I don’t know what happened but somebody must have called somebody,” he said. “We don’t suspect any problem, no foul play. We don’t see any signs of that. We deal with this all the time and nobody ever asks questions. This is a routine case that we deal with. It’s being made that its a great mystery.”
Anger said the police cleared the crime scene and have possession of the vehicle as they continue investigating.
Barnes was a Greeneview High School graduate.
