A musical expedition in 35MM
DAYTON — Dare to Defy Productions will present 35MM: A Musical Expeditio at 8 p.m. Oct. 7 and at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. Oct. 1 and Oct. 8, both in the Mathile Black Box Theatre in the Schuster Center.
A picture is worth 1,000 words — what about a song? Can a picture inspire a song or fifteen? In “35MM,” each photo creates a unique song, moments frozen in time; a glimmer of a life unfolding, a glimpse of something happening. A stunning new multimedia musical which explores a groundbreaking new concept in musical theatre.
The show, 35MM, runs 80 minutes and is recommended for ages 13 and up. Tickets are available at the Ticket Center Stage Box Office located in the Schuster Center, by calling 937-228-3630 or at www.ticketcenterstage.com. Senior, military and student discounts available at the box office.
YS Street Fair
YELLOW SPRINGS — Yellow Springs will host its all-day arts and foods festival 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 8. Browse over 200 booths of fine arts & crafts, clothing, jewelry, fair trade items, gifts and massages. Eat Vietnamese shish-kabobs, Mexican empanadas, Thai wraps or hot dogs. Sauerkraut Festival
WAYNESVILLE — Famous in the Midwest, the Ohio Sauerkraut Festival begins 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8 and ends 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9. Arts and crafts range from ceramics to paintings to wordworking, while food offerings range from sauerkraut pizza to fudge.

Fairborn Halloween Fest
FAIRBORN — Fun for kids and adults alike, enjoy rides, vendors, entertainment, Foy’s 5 and Dime, and Foy’s Haunted Museum at the Halloween Festival is set for Oct. 21-22. Dracula: Bloodlines
DAYTON — Dayton Ballet is thrilled to present Dracula: Bloodlines, the first ballet of the 2016–2017 Excite Season 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 20; 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21; 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 22 and 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23 in the Victoria Theatre.
This season Dayton Ballet presents a Dayton Performing Arts Alliance Signature Event entitled Dracula: Bloodlines. This brand-new story ballet will feature a newly composed musical score, new choreography, new costumes, and, for the first time, live orchestra for a story ballet staged in the classic Victoria Theatre. For an added level of artistic collaboration, guest artists with Dayton Opera will appear on stage to sing several haunting arias, providing a vivid vocal backdrop to the story of how Dracula came to be.
