Local libraries announce January programs

GREENE COUNTY — The Greene County Community Libraries will hold a variety of programs for the month of January. Some programs require registration. The following library programs are planned:

Bellbrook

Winters-Bellbrook Community Library is located at 57 W. Franklin St. Call 937-352-4004 for more information or to register for program.

Winters-Bellbrook Community Library’s LOTR Club for ages 12-18, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3 will be held at the Bellbrook Presbyterian Church. All Tolkien fans join the library for an evening of discussion and games, centering around the works of Tolkien.

TAG for ages 12-18, 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5. Join the library for Teen Advisory Group. Over snacks discuss the library’s book collection, programs, community service projects, and any other ideas you have for the library.

Harry Potter Club for ages 8-11, 4:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9. This is a club for children who love the Harry Potter books. Each meeting talk about one specific thing from the world of Hogwarts.

Cluein’ and Chewin’ Book Club for adults, 6-7 p.m., Monday, Jan. 9. Cluein’ and Chewin’ is a new mystery book discussion group. Members are invited to bring a food item to share that they feel is somehow related to the book. January title will be posted on the library website. Registration required.

Cedarville

Cedarville Community Library is located at 20 S. Miller St. Call 937-352-4006 for more information or to register.

Downloadable Library for adults,1-5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4. Drop in this week for help with your new tablet or listening device. Learn how to download ebooks, eaudiobooks and more from the library, and demonstrate the features of Hoopla, OverDrive, and Zinio.

Needlework Circle for adults, 6-7:45 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. Whatever craft you enjoy, bring it along to work on at the library. Beginners are welcome.

Marbled Mugs for adults, 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7. Make a marbled mug using nail polish. Leave the program with a one-of-a-kind mug.

Teen Night for ages 12-18, 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7. Play board games and hang out with your friends. There will be snacks.

Jamestown

Jamestown Community Library is located at 86 Seaman Drive. Call 937-352-4005 to register or for more information.

Drop-In Crafters for adults, 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 10, 17, 24, 31. Drop in the library and join other crafters are they work on various projects.

Middle School Book Club for ages 12-18, 4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9. Enjoy a snack while we discuss this month’s book.

Yellow Springs

Yellow Springs Community Library is located at 415 Xenia Ave. Call 937-352-4003.

Art in the Library: Secret Book Boxes for ages 8 and up, 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3. Come in after school and create a secret place for your treasures by decorating a box to look like a book. Snacks provided.

Friendship Bracelets, 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10. Come in after school and learn how to make friendship bracelets.

Read to the Dogs, 3-4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12. Come in after school to read to and visit with our four legged friends and their people.

Angry Birds Party, 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17. Come in after school for Angry Birds themed crafts and snacks.

Secret Agent Afternoon for ages 7 and up, 3- 4p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24. Do you like secret messages, codes and solving mysteries. Join the library after school for some spy games, crafts and snacks.

Origami Yoda Club: The Surprise Attack of Jabba the Puppet 3-4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31. Will the Force be with the student alliance and their origami puppets in their battle to get back their favorite classes? Hear a chapter read aloud, have a snack and join us for some Star Wars origami and other fun activities based on the series.

Anime Club for ages 12-18, 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5. Watch some anime and enjoy a snack.

Young Adult Writing Club for ages 12-18, 4-5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19. Do you love to write? Poetry? Fan-fiction? Come in and use the library for an hour to write and then staff have time at the end for everyone to share. Snacks will be provided.

Oreo Tasting for ages 12-18, 4-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27. Taste test different Oreos. Vote for your favorite flavor.

Board of Trustees of the Yellow Springs Library Association for adults, 4:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4. Bi-monthly meeting.

Computer Basics for adults, 2-4 p.m. Monday, Jan. 9, 23. Geared toward the beginner, this class offers an introduction to the monitor, keyboard, tower and mouse in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Registration required.
