County judge to speak to Republican women

XENIA — Here comes the judge.

Greene County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Buckwalter will be the guest speaker 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 1 meeting of the Xenia Republican Women’s Club at the headquarters, 45 E. Main St.

Buckwalter graduated from Xenia High School, received a bachelor of science degree from Wright State University and a law degree from University of Dayton. While in law school, he worked as a law clerk for several judges in Greene County Common Pleas Court. After his graduation from UD, he established a private law practice while also working as an assistant prosecutor with the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office. Buckwalter continued his post-graduate education at Northwestern University and Harvard Law School.

He has often participated as an instructor for continuing legal education seminars and has been published in newspapers, legal articles and continuing legal education material. He has also served as a mock judge for the Ohio Police Academy. Buckwalter is active in the Volunteer Lawyers Project representing the the elderly and others without charge for the legal issues they face.

Active with the Honor Flight organization, Buckwalter has also brought the Wills for Heroes organization to Greene County as President of the Greene County Bar Association. This program provides wills and other probate documents to police, firemen, EMS and other first responders at no cost.
