XENIA — Members of the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services center recently remembered the lives of loved ones with a balloon launch.

Along with Heartland Hospice, nearly 100 people were celebrated during the “Those we love live forever in our hearts” service.

The names of those being remembered were printed in booklets and on the helium-filled balloons which were launched into the sky. Two days after the launch, the center received notice that two of its balloons were already found seven miles south of Washington Court House.

During the memorial service, many individuals told stories about the things they remembered regarding their loved ones. The memorial ceremony also included a candlelight service, prayers and singing. Following the service, a plaque was dedicated in memory of long-time member Virginia Bailey. Bailey was the head of the Garden Committee and kept the center’s landscape looking beautiful.
