YELLOW SPRINGS – The local art group, the Monday Morning Artists, will be holding their fourth exhibit, “Reflections,” beginning Friday, July 17 at the Yellow Springs Arts Council Community Gallery. The opening reception will be from 6-9 p.m. on that Friday, and there will be live jazz music and refreshments.

In 2010, a small group of artists decided they wanted to do a ‘drawing a day’ project to grow as artists. They had so much fun that they decided to continue to meet monthly to share and create together. And that’s how the the Monday Morning Artists got their start.

Over the last five years, they have gathered on the first Monday of each month in the First Presbyterian Church in Yellow Springs. Each group member each brings the medium of their choice and a piece of art that they want to share with the group. Sometimes on a nice day, they meet in the countryside and paint outdoors. They invite anyone who is interested to join them.

Every year or so, they exhibit their art as a group. The upcoming exhibit “Reflections” at YSAC will be their fourth exhibit. Many of the artists teach, so starting July 18, they are offering five relaxing Saturday art classes, each taught by a different artist from the group. The classes will cover watercolor painting, among other topics, and will take place during the normal gallery open hours, 1-4 p.m.

See their blog for more information on the individual classes: www.monmornartists.blogspot.com as well as www.ysartscouncil.org.
