XENIA — Greene Memorial Hospital is now offering the latest advancement in 3D Mammography technology at its Kettering Health Network Breast Evaluation Center.

Greene Memorial Hospital is among the first Greene County sites to offer patients 3D Mammography with Tomosynthesis.

Xenia resident and lead mammographer, Angie Church is excited to utilize this new technology at the center she has served for more than 12 years. “We are one of the first locations within Kettering Health Network to begin using this advanced diagnostic equipment,” said Church.

3D Mammography technology is among the leading advances in breast cancer detection in more than 20 years. It complements the Breast Specific Gamma Imaging (BSGI) service also available at Greene Memorial. BSGI may also be beneficial for those with dense breast tissue or those who have experienced previous breast surgeries.

3D Mammography with Tomosynthesis provides extremely precise imagery, presenting a much clearer, higher resolution picture of the breast structure to the radiologist.

“This gives patients and their physicians the opportunity to locate potential issues within the breast tissues earlier while reducing the number of unnecessary biopsies,” said Michael Caccamo, DO, Chief Radiologist for Greene Memorial Hospital. “

Proud of the warm and friendly atmosphere at GMH Mammography, Church said, “Being with Greene Memorial for so long I have developed attachments to my patients. I feel as if they were my own family, and we want to provide them with the best care possible.”

Greene Memorial’s Mammography Services are now offering this latest advancement in breast healthcare. They accept both physician and self-referral appointments for 3D and BSGI via scheduling with Kettering Breast Evaluation Centers at 937-299-0099.
