XENIA — It began as a small insurance agency in Beavercreek in 1962.
Staff has come and gone. The industry has changed drastically.
But by doing things the right way and focusing on customer service, Montgomery Insurance and Investments has flourished and celebrated its 60th anniversary during a Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce business after hours event Thursday.
Founded by Robert Montgomery in 1956, the agency has grown with the addition of employees and insurance lines available. But what held true for Montgomery in the 1950s still is the modus operandi today.
“I think that we’re committed,” said Brad Montgomery, Robert’s son and agency president. “We’re a family organization. We’re committed to giving good customer service.”
Robert Montgomery began to set his agency apart by expanding his expertise into life insurance and financial services, while many of the competitors handled mainly home, auto and business insurance.
That trend continues today. Montgomery offers insurance, investments, health and benefits and accounting and tax services.
“We have four divisions,” Brad Montgomery said. “Most of the other (companies) don’t do most of these things.”
The four divisions represent 16 insurance companies, 15 health and benefits companies and 13 companies who offer financial services.
“We give you the advantage of having multiple companies at your fingertips with just one phone call,” according to the Montgomery website. “Not only that, but we give you expert advice on which plan would be the best fit for your needs, and then advocate for you throughout your relationship with us. Basically, we shoulder your insurance burden as if you were a member of our own family.”
