WILBERFORCE — When Cedric Tolbert Sr., graduated from college he didn’t have a suit to wear for job interviews.

So the Xenia resident told himself he would try and help others avoid that dilemma. Seven years ago he began a suit giveaway at Central State, which continued Tuesday at the school’s new University Student Center.

“Everyone needs a suit,” Tolbert said. “That’s where it really started.”

He teamed up with son, Cedric Tolbert Jr., and family friend Oscar Robinson and fitted more than 175 students from Central State, Wilberforce, Cedarville and Wright State. Xenia Christ Episcopal Church and fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi also helped with the suit collection and distribution.

Each student could pick out a suit or a pair of pants, shirt and jacket. Tolbert Sr., helped make sure the clothes fit properly.

“We’re doing the best we can to donate to the community and give back,” said Tolbert Jr., who received his Master’s Degree from CSU in 2014. “It’s an opportunity to show that we as a community can do great things.”
