XENIA — Greene County Children Services will host its 9th Annual “Trunk or Treat” Halloween event 6-7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26 in the parking lot of the Greene County Social Services complex on Ledbetter Road in Xenia. This free, fun, safe Halloween celebration is open to all Greene County families.

Employees from Children Services, along with many other local organizations, will pass out treats to children and useful information to parents. “This will be our biggest Trunk or Treat ever,” said Monica Schiffler, Public Relations Specialist for Greene County Services. “We have 27 staff cars and at least 18 community partners participating so far. First Student, Inc. will be back this year with not one, but two haunted school buses!”

Other organizations participating in this year’s Children Services’ Trunk or Treat event include Kids Learning Place, Greene County Library, TCN Behavioral Health, Greene County Parks and Trails, Greene CATS, Xenia Police Department’s DARE Program, Family and Children First, St. Vincent Supportive Services for Veteran Families, CareSource, and YMCA Childcare, among others.

“Our staff and the other participants look forward to Trunk or Treat all year long,” said Amy Amburn, Administrator of Greene County Children Services. “It’s our chance to provide a fun, positive experience for the children of Greene County and it’s also a way to thank the entire community for supporting our mission of keeping kids safe from abuse and neglect.”

Greene County Children Services is a division of the Greene County Department of Job & Family Services and provides for the care, protection and placement of abused, neglected and dependent children in Greene County. The agency engages in a wide spectrum of protective activities including the assessment of thousands of child abuse and neglect reports received each year. It also provides preventive services to children in their own homes as well as providing temporary and permanent child placement through foster care, adoption, and independent living programs.
