CEDARVILLE — David McGlynn, author and associate professor of English at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wis., will produce a podcast, teach a master’s level course and sign readers’ books at Cedarville University Monday, Jan. 23.

McGlynn has authored “A Door in the Ocean: A Memoir” and a collection of short stories titled “The End of the Straight and Narrow: Stories.” This collection of work won the 2008 Utah Book Award, and it was a finalist for the 2009 Steven Turner Award for Best First Fiction. His stories and essays have appeared in The Huffington Post, Men’s Health, Best American Sports Writing, Real Simple, Parents, The New York Times and many literary journals.

McGlynn’s day at Cedarville will begin with a podcast interview hosted by Isaac Mayeux, assistant professor of English. He will teach a master’s level course in the afternoon, before concluding his day with a book signing and private dinner.

“My goal for the event is to support the literary community on campus and for students to hear from another voice aside from their professors,” said Andrew Graff, assistant professor of English and a former student of McGlynn.
