This class is for volunteers of GCP&T. All volunteers are invited once a month to learn more about the natural world.

Fishing derby

Kids can try their luck and fishing skills at the School’s Out Fishing Derby 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, May 27 at Spring Lakes Park, 2191 Ferry Road, Bellbrook. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish caught and the most fish caught in the 6-8 year old and 12-16 year old age brackets. Parents can help children bait their hooks but children must do their own casting and reel in the fish. Registration opens one hour before derby begins.

Wetlands hike

Discover mid-spring in the wetlands 10-11:30 a.m., Sunday, May 28 at Hebble Creek Reserve on Spangler Road in Fairborn. Join the GCP&T naturalist for an exploration of birds, amphibians and plants typical to a wetland. Learn why wetlands are such an important habitat.

Full moon night hike

The group will enjoy a special guided tour through the earthworks. After a sack lunch, participants will hike around part of the restored prairie.
