Officials confiscate illegal fireworks

JAMESTOWN — The State Fire Marshal’s office, working closely with the Greene County Sheriff’s office and local fire departments, has confiscated a cache of consumer and commercial grade fireworks being stored at two separate locations in Jamestown; 4703 Waynesville Jamestown Road and 3934 Shawnee Trail.

“It is extremely dangerous for an unlicensed individual to have possession of commercial grade fireworks,” said Interim State Fire Marshal Jeff A. Hussey. “These explosives are incredibly unstable, and I truly believe we were able to avert a potential tragedy here.”

Search warrants were issued and executed the evening of Thursday, June 29, with assistance from the Greene County Sheriff’s office.
