XENIA — The Greene County Fair, slated for Sunday, July 30 through Saturday, Aug. 5, offers entertainment each evening at both the grandstand and entertainment center. All musicians at the entertainment center are free to watch and some grandstand acts are free to attend, while others cost between $5-15.

“There’s always a lot of laughs and good times at the fair. I wouldn’t miss it even if I didn’t work here,” Greene County Fair Secretary Esther Pierson said. “Our theme this year is ‘let’s grow together,’ so if you haven’t been to the fair in awhile, it’s a good time to come out, plant some seeds and watch it grow.”

Kicking off the week-long entertainment acts Sunday, July 30 include the free calf scramble beginning 7:45 p.m. at the grandstand, as well as musicians The Van-Dells beginning at 8:30 p.m. at the entertainment center. Pierson said the calf scramble is well-known throughout Greene County and it, along with the Van Dells are sure to draw a crowd.

Following those acts include a demolition derby and performance by local musicians Monday, July 31. Southbound Band will take the stage of the entertainment center beginning 7 p.m., while the smash it demo derby will kick off at 8 p.m. at the grandstand. Fair attendees can watch Southbound perform for free, while seeing the demo derby costs $5 if viewing from the grandstand or $15 from the infield.

Tuesday, Aug. 1 will offer bull riding, barrel racing, mutton busting and calf riding and Nashville recording artist Mike Mueller as the entertainment acts. The bull riding event begins 7 p.m. at the grandstands and costs $5 to attend, while Mueller will take the stage of the entertainment center starting at 7:30 p.m.

Fair attendees will have the opportunity Wednesday, Aug. 2 to watch harness racing as well as the David Mullikin Band. Harness racing takes place at the grandstand beginning at 6:30 p.m. with free admission, while the David Mullikin Band will take the entertainment center stage beginning at 7 p.m.

Harness racing will take place once again beginning 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, while the Richard Lynch Band will perform beginning at 7 p.m. Both entertainment options are free. Pierson said the harness races will include some good races this year, with giveaways slated in-between the horses taking their marks.

As fair weekend kicks off Friday, Aug. 4, attendees are invited to watch the OSTPA truck and tractor pulls as well as The Motown Sounds of Touch. The truck and tractor pull starts at 7 p.m. and costs $5 to attend from the grandstand or $10 from the infield. The Motown Sounds of Touch will perform beginning at 8 p.m.

The entertainment acts wrap up Saturday, Aug. 5 with ATV/truck drag races as well as three acts within the entertainment center stage. The strongman contest will take place beginning 10 a.m. at the entertainment center, followed by a performance by local cheerleaders at 6 p.m. Finally, Jessie Lyn Fischer and The TNT Band from the Lebanon Grand Opry House is slated to take the stage beginning at 8 p.m.

The ATV/truck drag races will start at 7 p.m. with practice taking place at 5 p.m. Watching the event from the grandstand costs $5, while observing from the infield costs $10.
