Hospitality Drive to be extended for Aldi

0

XENIA — Some changes are coming to the Main Street-Hospitality Drive intersection.

With the new Aldi building heading into the final few months of construction on land between Main and Greene Way Boulevard, the city is preparing to extend Hospitality Drive through to Greene Way. It currently stops at Main Street, where there is a traffic light.

Once the road is extended, there will be two entries into Aldi.

“The primary access point for Aldi is going to be off of Hospitality,” said City Planner Brian Forschner.

There will also be an entrance off Greene Way Boulevard to help minimize traffic on Main Street.

A turn lane will be added off Main Street in each direction, but existing travel lanes will not be impacted, according to Forschner. He added that the developer is covering that expense.

The developer is targeting April or May for the Aldi opening, depending on weather and asphalt availability.

Forschner said more development to the west of Aldi is “likely.”

Aldi could be open as early as April or May depending on weather.
