XENIA — The Xenia Walking Club will hold a volkswalk in Washington Courthouse Saturday, Sept. 12.

A volkswalk is a form of volkssporting, German for “sport of the people.” The walk begins any time between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. and will finish by 3 p.m. There will be two 5K trails/loops, each featuring different aspects of Washington Court House. The walk is free, but those who want the distance and event stamp issued by the American Volkssporting Association for their walking books will pay $3.

Walkers can go at their own pace and do as much or as little as they want. COVID-19 precautions will be in place. A mask must be worn while registering and in the shelter and surfaces will be sanitized. Walkers will also be given a bottle of water.

The start and finish are at the Washington Park Shelter, 110 EymanPark Drive in Washington Court House. It is easily accessed by taking the exits for SR 22 41 off U.S. 35 and follow signs into town. All roads merge into Court street. Turn left on Hinde Stewart, which becomes Millikan, and then turn right on Eyman Park Drive. The entrance to Washington Park is on the left.
