PIQUA — A man accused of assaulting his girlfriend and her 10-month-old child Monday evening before stealing a car and fleeing the scene continued to refuse to turn himself in to authorities Wednesday.
Kyle M. Crull, 23, of Sidney, has been charged with felonious assault, a second-degree felony, and assault and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, first-degree misdemeanors, following an assault that transpired at 1027 Park Ave.
As of Wednesday afternoon Crull’s whereabouts were unknown, but the suspect claimed on a social networking website that he was in Chicago, Ill.
Crull took to Facebook after the manhunt began to, in part, confess to the allegations.
“I am a loser for beating her,” Crull said in one of dozens of messages. “I never touched that baby.”
In other messages Crull claimed to be traveling back to Ohio to retain an attorney before turning himself in.
“I am going to turn myself in, but I am spending time with family first,” read another message.
Crull assaulted the woman and her infant girl, but fled the scene in the woman’s vehicle before the police arrived. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Sidney a short time later.
According to authorities, the assault was sparked during a domestic situation between the suspect and his girlfriend, who told police she was “repeatedly punched in the face by Crull” as she was “holding her child.” In addition, Crull also struck the child in the face, too.
Both of the victims were transported to the Upper Valley Medical Center by the Piqua Fire Department for treatment of their injuries and were later released.
“The victim advised she was repeatedly punched in the face by Crull as she was holding her child,” police reports state.
Anyone with information as to Crull’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Piqua Police Department at (937) 778-2027, the department’s anonymous tip line at 615-TIPS, or via the police department’s website at www.piquaoh.org.
