YELLOW SPRINGS — Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Yellow Springs will host an educational event 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 9 on “An Economic Approach to Understanding Social Justice.”’
The program will be presented by David Wishart, Professor of Economics at Wittenberg University. He states that, “Economists are much maligned, and appropriately so in my view, for not giving enough emphasis to issues of social justice.”
Dr. Wishart will introduce several theories of social justice, explain how economists measure the distribution of income and wealth, examine changes in the distribution of income and wealth over time, and end with a brief introduction to intergenerational issues of fairness that have been brought to the fore by economists doing work on the problem of climate change. All are welcome to attend.
Religious education classes are available for youth in preschool to sixth grade, beginning at 10 a.m. at the church located on US Route 68 between Xenia and Yellow Springs.
