No God’s but me
By Pastor Robert Forsberg
“Before me no god was formed, nor will there be one after me. I, even I, am the Lord, and apart from me there is no savior.” (Isaiah 43:10c-11)
How God came about is a question only He can answer. We are told however, that with His formation there was no more. There was no god before Him and there will be no god after Him. He is it! He is all! Humankind can create all the so called gods it likes but they are figments of their imagination. There is only one God and He is written on our hearts.
He is the Creator and only hope for humankind - our only Savior. It is a wondrous thing to contemplate the existence of our God. It is incomprehensibly wonderful.
It is good to go back to square one every once in a while. This is like going to the first words of Genesis. In the beginning there was God and that has not changed and never will. There is security in that.
Our understanding of Him as a Trinity: Father, Son and Holy Spirit, is complicated. One God in three persons is even harder to understand than one God. But does it matter? We do the best we can with what extremely limited knowledge we have. And that is okay with Him – as long as we get the right picture of Him as loving and caring for His creation.
Heavenly Father, we like this Word from You. You are clear and to the point that our searching elsewhere, for another god, etc., is all vanity. You are the real thing! You are the only true God! Alleluia!
Praise Your name forever and ever. Praise You our Savior through Your Son, Jesus, and Your Spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
