XENIA — Shawnee Elementary’s fifth grade students are now officially DARE graduates. The students received their rewards for completing the course Tuesday afternoon at the school on East Ankeney Mill Road.

Four students wrote the winning DARE essays. Cole English, Gary Henry, Jenna Hildebrandt and Julia King presented their essays to the gathering of 200 classmates and parents that were in attendance.

Officer Matheson, the DARE officer, said this was one of his largest parent turn-outs to help the fifth graders celebrate ever.
