XENIA — The Greene County Combined Health District is proud once again to offer a place for pregnant or breastfeeding mothers to rest, relax, and feed their babies at the Greene County Fair, July 27 to Aug. 2.

One mother who uses the breastfeeding station will win a handmade quilt, created and donated by Wendi Kirsch, a GRADS teacher at the Greene County Career Center and a community breastfeeding supporter.

The station will be located at the health district’s trailer, which will be located near the picnic shelter between the assembly hall and administration building. The trailer will have information about health district programs and breastfeeding, along with a rocker that a mom can use either inside or outside the trailer.

“Ohio Law gives a mother the right to breastfeed her baby in any location that she has the right to be,” said Nancy Cohen, WIC breastfeeding coordinator at the Greene County Combined Health District. “But sometimes it is challenging to find a comfortable place to relax with a baby. Our breastfeeding station is designed to meet that challenge and help a breastfeeding family have a fabulous day at the fair.”

For more information, contact Cohen at 937-374-5642 or Rachel Goff, breastfeeding peer helper at 937-374-5635.
