Xenia Chamber presents awards

XENIA — The Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce hosted members for its 65th annual Awards Diner Saturday night at the Greene County Fairgrounds.


Following the social hour, words from the XACC president Alan Liming and from the speaker for the evening, Gabrielle Enright, and the dinner, it was time to hand out the awards.


The Robert G. Babb Award was presented by Jim Saner of Montgomery Insurance and Investments to Eric Holtvogt of Dayton Power & Light. The Babb Award is presented to the outstanding volunteer who has made the most significant contribution to the Past Chairman of the Board during his or her tenure.


Julia Abels of Twist Inc. was on hand to receive the Dodds Monuments Award for recognition of distinguished leadership in the industrial sector and civic involvement while Brian Stephan of Wichmann, Newell and Stephan was the winner of the Russ Remick Award for recognition of distinguished leadership in the retail-service industry and civic involvement.


The S. L. Stephan Award was presented to Chrissy Roundtree of Elmcroft Assisted Living. This award is presented to the member who has volunteered unselfishly to promote the Xenia Area Chamber of Commerce and serve the community during at least the past two years.


Winning the Barb Zajbel Xenia Ambassador Award was Claude “Bud” Schindler Jr., who was instrumental in bringing Athletes in Action and Xenia Christian School to the former OVCH campus. The Zajbel Award goes to the individual who has demonstrated a history of promoting Xenia locally, regionally, and internationally of the best city in America.


The F. M. Torrence Award, for lifetime achievement for a member who has participated in volunteer services and activities promoting the business, cultural, educational, religious and civic life of the greater Xenia area without motive of personal gain. The Torrence Award was presented to Bradley T. Montgomery of Montgomery Insurance & Investments.
