BELLBROOK — The Sugarcreek Township Fire Department is currently seeking firefighters and EMS volunteers.
Do you have what it takes to be a part of an organization striving for excellence? The department is looking for 12 volunteers by the end of the year. Could it be you?
“Becoming a volunteer firefighter/emergency medical service is extremely rewarding and an outstanding way to serve your community that encompasses dedication, leadership, pride, senses of community, sacrifice, physically demanding and mentally stimulating,” said Sugarcreek Township Fire Chief Randall Pavlak.
Volunteers are not limited to the Sugarcreek residents, but also throughout the Dayton area. Experience is not required, but a desire to be a bigger part of the community is required. The department offers level one firefighter training, which is 140 hours. They also offer emergency medical technician training, which is 150 hours.
Once training has completed, the volunteer will respond to emergency medical fires, calls for assistance, rescues and special hazards, such as hazardous materials, weapons of mass destruction, and manmade or natural disasters. The volunteers training continues throughout with advance training classes and continuing education classes to ensure they are constantly putting their knowledge to practice.
