DARKE COUNTY - Emergency personnel dealt with several vehicle crashes and slide-offs Wednesday afternoon with another round of winter weather impacting the area. Northern Darke County was hit hardest with heavy snowfall and wind gusts causing whiteouts and treacherous driving conditions.

A female driver of a maroon minivan lost control of the vehicle on the 10000 block of State Route 121 near the Conover Road intersection. The northbound minivan hit a snow covered section of the highway causing the driver to veer off the road, striking a utility pole and coming to rest in a field. The driver and two other occupants of the vehicle were transported to Wayne HealthCare with injuries from the crash.

Minutes before the minivan crash, a Chevrolet 4x4 truck slid-off the roadway to avoid collision with an approaching vehicle approximately 100 yards south on State Route 121. The male and female occupants were not injured, but were stranded at the scene until their truck could be pulled out of the muddy field.
