XENIA — Greene County Career Center’s Culinary Arts and Food and Hospitality programs will be sending five representatives to the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) State Leadership Conference on April 23-25 in Columbus. Teams and individuals from both programs competed at the FCCLA regional event at Upper Valley Career Center.
Advancing to state from Culinary Arts are Micah Lindsey from Yellow Springs in Pastry Arts Cake, Greg Borstelmann from Beavercreek in Garde Manger and Debbie Hall from Yellow Springs in Garde Manger. Hall won a gold medal while Lindsey and Borstelmann won silver.
Advancing from Food and Hospitality are Shelby Wilges from Xenia and Jonathan Comperry from Beavercreek in Dining Room Attendant with silver medals.
Medals were also won by a number of other competitors. Evelyn Greene from Yellow Springs, Chelsey Kellar from Kettering and Cole Polen from Beavercreek won a silver medal is a culinary team. Caroline Darrah from Beavercreek along with Demarkus Coleman-Silker and Kyle Bullard from Fairborn won a bronze medal in the culinary team event. A bronze also was earned by the team of Chris Diggs from Fairborn and Cody Hooper and Fred Carr from Xenia. Abbey Kemmerer from Bellbrook won a bronze medal in Pastry Arts Cake. Donald Hunter from Xenia, Andre Roper from Beavercreek and James Winters from Fairborn took home silver in Dining Room Setup.
