BEAVERCREEK — The Beavercreek Rotary celebrated its 41st Annual Founder’s Day Dinner Celebration by honoring Barbara DeMarey for her achievements with the Beavercreek Rotary.
The “Marion and Matty Penick” Community Service Award was presented to DeMarey Friday evening May 9 at The Beaverfcreek Golf Club. The Beavercreek High School graduate was not only recognized for her several achievements but also for her dedication to The Beavercreek Rotary. A past president and treasurer of the club, she has served in several officer positions, boards of directors and committee chairmanships. She has also held a perfect attendance award for the last seven years.
DeMarey a 19-year member of Rotary said that she is most proud of the recognition she received as being “the glue” that holds the club together. DeMarey added that she loves the little details that go into making something special for someone else.
Previous award winners present at the event were Scott Hadley, Ed and Fran O’Shaughnessy and Jim Rudd.
The award is named after Rotarian Marion Pennick, and his wife, Matty, who donated land known now as Rotary Park.
DeMarey is a current resident of Xenia but still has many several ties to the Beavercreek area.
