DAYTON — A Columbus man has been indicted for stealing checks in three cities, including Vandalia.
Benjamin Moore, 45, was indicted by the Montgomery County Grand Jury on Tuesday and charged with 30 felony counts related to the theft of checks from mailboxes in Vandalia, Centerville, and Bellbrook last fall.
Moore is suspected of taking checks from mailboxes and using those stolen checks to create counterfeit checks that were cashed at various businesses around Ohio.
Moore has been charged with 10 counts of forgery, theft by deception, nine counts of identity fraud, eight counts of forgery against an elderly/disabled person, theft of $1000 or more against an elderly/disabled person, and engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity, a second degree felony.
Moore is scheduled to be arraigned in the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court on August 19.
