Fairborn marketing students earn DECA recognition
FAIRBORN — Marketing Management students active in Greene County Career Center’s DECA chapter at Fairborn High School competed in the District Career Development Conference and came away with some awards and opportunities to compete at the upcoming state competition.
The Ohio DECA Career Development Conference will be held in Columbus at the Convention Center March 14-15.
Brook Gitizinger and Amber Kaye placed third in Fashion Merchandising Promotional Team. Courtney Hearrell finished fourth in Human Resources Individual Series. Ryan Bates was fifth in Business Administration Principles.
Andrew Greene was fifth in Marketing Principles. Tyree Henderson and David Parris placed second in the Sports and Entertainment Marketing Series event and qualified for state competition. Kelly Sloan took third in the same event and advances as well.
Treyrail Ross, Katrina Lightcap and A.J. Green qualified for the national leadership conference as winners of the Thrive Academy Award. This event was held separately from the district competition.
The Marketing program offered by Greene County Career Center at Fairborn High School is taught by Kristina Ropos.
All Greene County Career Center programs are affiliated with a career-technical student organization. These organizations provide opportunities for networking and leadership development. Skill competitions are held at the local, regional, state and international levels for DECA.
