WILBERFORCE — Members of the Central State football team took time away from their busy pre-season to help give back to the area.
The Marauders collected various school supplies and donated them to Cox Elementary School in Xenia. Cox fifth-grade teacher LaShann Latimer is a CSU alum and has stayed connected to the school, working with Coach Cedric Pearl to organize the collection effort.
Bookbags, notebooks, pens, pencils and folders were among the items given to the school.
“I have to tell you that I am appreciative of the supplies for our children, but I was really impressed with the politeness and the demeanor of the young men on the team,” Xenia superintendent Denny Morrison said. “They were respectful and so willing to help. I see good things ahead for Central State University’s football program.”
