BELLBROOK — Bellbrook City Council Member Joe Ritzel has announced that effective Sept. 1 he will be resigning from council. Ritzel is relocating outside of the city and, therefore, will no longer be eligible to serve on council.
Ritzel has served on council since Jan. 1, 2004 after being elected in November 2003. Prior to his election Ritzel co‐chaired the City’s 2003 Charter Review Committee and served on the Village Review Board.
“Joe has been a great asset to City Council in his ten plus years of service. He has helped guide the City through financial challenges and the transition to a new City Manager. His knowledge and experience will be missed,” stated Mayor Bob Baird.
According to the Bellbrook Charter, council will have 60 days to fill the vacancy created by Ritzel’s departure. The city will begin accepting résumés from those interested in filling the vacancy.
