The Gold Wing Road Riders Association held their annual Buckeye Rally June 13-14 ,2014 at the Greene County Fairgrounds. Chapter F of Fairborn was again the host chapter of the rally as in years past when in the Greene County area.
Beavercreek First Class Photography was on site to take pictures of the motorcyclists with their bikes. It is easy to go to the photographer with kids and the wife but with your bike it’s not easy to get professional pictures. He offered a carnival green screen scene to background the motorcycles with date and title of which was a huge hit at the rally.
Fairborn Texas Roadhouse catered the Friday the 13th Dinner with good food and excellent service which was a lucky day again as food from Texas Roadhouse is awesome. We were then entertained with circus performances to make all laugh as Matt Jergens opened the show with a magnificent juggling act, including the audience.
Then we send in the clowns which are always a favorite with Giggles & Grin Clown Alley including Sparklelee, Folly, Mickey, Lullabelle, and Zilcho. They were so funny and I highly recommend the clowns for everyone to have to a party whether it’s for kids or adults — great fun and laughs. The closing act was the Great Alto and great he was as he too included the audience to help him out and I am still trying to figure out some of the tricks that he did. The whole night’s entertainment was truly fun and remarkable and we were blessed and lucky to get them to entertain us for our program.
One of the three special charities we did was again the local food pantry and we did this with the chapter challenge. Last year we brought in 1,420 can goods and pieces of food for the pantry. This year we brought in 2,546 and $800 in cash for the food pantry which again was a super job and partly due to some of the chapters going to local Xenia grocery stores and buying food.
Last year we had donuts for donations by Abbey’s Donut shop in Fairborn and it was so popular that we brought it back again this year. Michigan said they wanted to steal Abbey’s to go home with them and Cincinnati chapter said they were getting the phone number to thank Abbey’s for the best donuts in the state of Ohio. Fairborn, we are blessed to have Abbey’s Donuts in our town as you really don’t know how great donuts are until you have a donut from Abbey’s.
There was a camp site contest for the theme of circus and Chapter E won. Their prize was Giovanni’s pizza and again we are blessed in Fairborn as the chapter said they never had better pizza in their life and they have eaten lots of pizza from all over on their dinner rides. They loved Giovanni’s so much they are planning on coming back to our area on a chapter dinner ride for pizza and going to Giovanni’s again. Thanks Tony.

No event can be a success without the vendors and sponsors and we were blessed to have alot of local vendors and sponsors for supplies and food for our rally.
We had a Hot Air Balloon Ride raffle for 1st place winner of which Gentle Breeze Balloon of Lebanon is where it will take place and the winner didn’t have to be present to win but it was nice that she was there. Mrs. Durbin of Reynoldsburg was the winner of the Hot Air Balloon ride for two and the 2nd place winner was Mr. Herron of Springfield for the money. Well our total of 50/50 and raffle ticket donations we managed to raise a grand total of $1,913.40 of which I am very pleased and proud. We raised the money for the Ohio local Red Cross and that is where it will go to support Ohio.
We wish to send a very special thanks to the great coverage and articles that the local Fairborn Daily Herald and Xenia Gazette do to inform our readers and community of what is happening in their town and surrounding area of interest to all keeping us up to date with the news. Love that with morning cup of tea or coffee recommend it to all to get your local paper and support them as they support us and our surrounding community.
I could not forget to thank last but certainly not least the Xenia Police Department that helped with the light show, blocking the streets and giving us a very safe ride day and night, and the people in Xenia and the surrounding area that came out at night on the walks and streets to see us and wave to us with support and flags flying.
We also must not forget to thank Linda WIse Chapter F and Bill Kendrick for the wonderful pictures and slide show that gave us memories to remember and last a lifetime.
