FAIRBORN — Greene County Master Gardener Volunteers (GCMGV) and Fairborn’s MHC Greene have supplied two Fairborn food pantries with fresh produce every summer for the past 17 years, gardening in a small plot provided by Mary Help of Christians Church.

Lately demands on pantries at Fish and St. Vincent DePauls have outstripped the supply and “the garden will roughly double in size, from 1,600 to 3,000 square feet,” said garden manager Denise Wetzel.

The gardeners have embarked on an ambitious fundraising campaign and have raised over $3,000 with the help of local service groups and fundraisers at two nearby restaurants.

“Spring is around the corner, and we need to find the remaining dollars,” Wetzel added.

Donations to GCMGV, a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, are tax deductible. Those wishing to help can send donations to: GCMGV, C/O Beverly Jurick, MHC Garden Treasurer, 8985 Haddix Road, Fairborn, OH 45324.
