FAIRBORN — Vectren has three major projects throughout Fairborn to replace deteriorated gas lines with longer lasting pipes that will reduce the risk of breaks. Besides replacing the outdated lines, these projects also involve restoration work which includes permanent pavement, sidewalk, curb, and landscaping repairs.
The three areas receiving work include:
- Dayton Avenue and areas south between Broad Street and Central Avenue;
- Third Street, Miller Avenue, and Wright Street between Main Street and Xenia Avenue;
- Second Street between Main Street and Koogler Street.
The two larger projects, Dayton Avenue and Third Street/Miller Avenue, have all underground work complete; while the final project, Second Street, is scheduled for completion near the end of August. In total, nearly 17,000 feet of gas main lines will have been replaced. In addition, the connections from the gas main lines to residences are being replaced in order to provide a more reliable gas service.
Residents may see seeding, concrete, and asphalt work in their neighborhoods as the projects draw closer to completion.
