XENIA — The Xenia H.O.G. Chapter is holding the always popular charity motorcycle ride to raise funds for Christmas gifts for Greene County families who need a little help.

The 23rd Annual Rusty’s Ride is Saturday, Sept. 6 at Buckminn’s D&D Harley-Davidson in Xenia.

Registration begins at 10 a.m. this year, an hour earlier than in previous years.

The fund-raiser is presented in memory of Russell “Rusty” Shearer, an employee at the original Buckminn’s Harley-Davidson. Shearer died at the age of 21 in a motorcycle accident with a deer. He had just begun to “live his dream” after completing his education to become a Harley-Davidson mechanic. It was founded by John and Connie Smith, former owners of the dealership.

A king size quilt will be raffled off at the Ride. Tickets are available at the motor clothes counter at Buckminn’s D&D. Anyone can buy a quilt raffle ticket, not just those registered for the ride.
