JAMESTOWN — Deb’s Place in Jamestown is planning a fundraiser to help the family of Connor Wallace.
Wallace, 14, was a Greeneview High School student who died in an ATV accident while on vacation with his family in Tennessee last week.
“One of my employees (Amy Erisman) contacted me this morning and asked me if we could do it,” said Deb Wheatcraft, owner of Deb’s Place, 5016 Old US Route 35 E, Jamestown.
Local businesses and residents have been donating items to be raffled off 6 p.m. to approximately 1 a.m. this Friday, July 11 at Deb’s Place. All money collected will go straight to Theresa and Jon Wallace, Connor Wallace’s parents.
“This is going crazy on us,” Wheatcraft said. “I’ve been bombarded by calls this morning. We’ve gotten donations coming in from everywhere. An outpouring. My Facebook page is just blowing up. Deb’s Place is going to be very, very busy Friday night. I never even dreamed that it would get (so big).”
In addition to the raffle money, Wheatcraft is donating $1 from every meal purchased Friday to the Wallace family.
“Theresa Wallace was a great volunteer at the school,” Wheatcraft said. “There’s nothing you can say to a mother and father who’ve lost a child. I’m just hoping the community shows up to support.”
Memorial services will be held 4 p.m., today at Greeneview High School, 4710 Cottonville Road, Jamestown. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Silvercreek Township Cemetery, Jamestown. In lieu of flowers, Theresa and Jon Wallace ask that donations be made to the Connor James Wallace Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Greeneview Schools, 4 South Charleston Road, Jamestown, OH, 45335.
