LONG BEACH, Calif. — Former Fairborn resident John P. Wolfe recently received a master’s degree in emergency services administration from California State University Long Beach.

Wolfe grew up in Fairborn where he attended Mary Help of Christian School and was a 1989 graduate of Fairborn High School. He was a 1993 graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice with a minor in psychology.

Wolfe is a 19-year member of the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) and currently serves an LAPD Rampart Division sergeant in charge of a parole compliance team. The teams were formed as a result of California’s prison realignment which released less serious felons from prison due to overcrowding. Nearly 5,400 of the ex-convicts are living in Los Angeles which is more than the county’s probation department can handle with its current staff.

Wolfe is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society, the Los Angeles Police Protective League and the Fairborn Council 3724, Knights of Columbus. He enjoys traveling, bicycling, mountain climbing, rafting, competing in full and half marathons, and he completed the Arizona Ironman last year.
