WILMINGTON — In keeping with tradition, the Murphy Theatre will offer its annual Christmas Portrait to the community, inviting families to enjoy another brand new show directed by Timothy Larrick and featuring favorite holiday tunes and characters. But this year’s show isn’t just a show: it’s the kick-off to a two-week community holiday celebration bringing together families, musicians, singers, dancers, local businesses, favorite holiday films and more for several can’t-miss yearly events.
The Murphy Christmas Show will show on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 12 and 13 at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m. There will be peppermint hot chocolate (provided by the Crave Candy and Nuts) available at the concession during each show, and families can take their photo with Santa Clause frames and props. Ticket prices range from $8 to $16 each, according to seating preference.
On Friday, Dec. 20, there will be two films shown at the Murphy: “Christmas Vacation” at 6 p.m. and “White Christmas” at 8 p.m. Tickets are $5 each and will be sold at the door on the day of the event.
It’s no secret that the Murphy Christmas Show brings together some of Clinton County’s best singers, dancers, actors, and musicians of all ages. That’s not the only reason to come, though. This year there will be a raffle for a grand prize gift basket, with tickets available for purchase each night of the show.
This year’s gift basket contains assorted chocolates (provided by The Crave Candy and Nuts), wine, popcorn, Murphy Theatre gift certificates, Murphy Theatre movie tickets, all of the DVDs of the Murphy Final Friday Chick Flick Summer Series (provided by First Choice Video), and some additional surprises. Tickets will be sold at each showing for $1 (or 6 for $5). The winner will be drawn before the viewing of White Christmas on Friday, Dec. 20.
