Dear Senator: Recently newspapers carried a story with the headline, “Senators to read drone strike memo.” Senators will be allowed to read a secret, 41-page memo, written by David Barron on 16 July 2010, that justifies the killing of American citizens without them being indicted or found guilty in a court of law.
The purpose of the reading is to get Senate approval for David Barron’s nomination to the 1st US Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston. Below is the rest of the story.
President Obama had Anwar al-Awlaki killed by a drone strike on 30 September, 2011. President Obama also killed his son, a 16 year-old Denver native, two weeks later in a similar drone strike. It is not clear if the son’s name was even on Obama’s assassination list.
I, for one, do not have to read the 41-page memo to know David Barron should not be appointed to any federal court. I have read the Constitution.
According to the Constitution, the father and son were both denied their Fifth Amendment right that “no person shall … be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law.”
We do not need judges on the Court of Appeals who condom the President being judge, jury and executioner. This attempted appointment reeks of cronyism and should be denied. Please vote against the appointment of David Barron to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, or to any federal court in our Constitutional Republic.
