XENIA — The members of the Ware-Smith Women’s Missionary Society & Young People’s Division of United African Methodist Episcopal Church are celebrating Missionary Sunday April 29.

The speaker for the morning is the Rev. Dr. Aimee Hurst Anderson.

Anderson is an associate minister of the historic St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Columbus, where the Rev. Dr. Taylor T. Thompson is the pastor. There she serves as the director of worship and liturgy and the children’s sermon coordinator in addition to serving on the pastoral care team, and the commission on membership and evangelism. She is the former Ohio Annual Conference Young People’s and Children’s Division director. She currently serves as the financial secretary for the Ohio/South Ohio Conference Women in Ministry.

Anderson is a contingent chaplain at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated and the Columbus Chapter of The Links, Incorporated.

Having successfully defended her doctoral dissertation from Payne Theological Seminary, she will graduate May 11 with a Doctorate of Ministry.

United A.M.E. Church is at 286 E. Church St., Xenia. The service begins 11 a.m. and the public is invited to attend.
