Area high school girls basketball teams learned Sunday who they’d face in their first postseason games of the 2013-‘14 basketball tournament.

The Greeneview Rams girls basketball team was named as the second seed for the Division III sectional tournament. The Rams (16-2) will open up against Williamsburg, for a 7:30 p.m. first-round game Feb. 13 at Wilmington High School.

Greeneview’s seeding was the highest among area high schools’ girls basketball programs.

In Division I, Beavercreek (13-6) earned the fifth seed and will face Trenton Edgewood in an 11 a.m. Feb. 15 contest at Troy High School. Fairborn (10-9) is in that same Dayton 2 bracket with Beavercreek. The Lady Skyhawks were named the seventh seed and drew a first-round bye. They’ll play the winner of the Springboro-Piqua game, at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 18.

Xenia (5-12) was given the no. 17 seed and has a tough first-round matchup with top-seeded Centerville at 10 a.m. Feb. 15 at Huber Heights Wayne High School.

In Division II, it was Bellbrook who drew the highest seeding among local teams. The Golden Eagles (14-4) earned the D-II tourney Lebanon bracket’s third seed and will play no. 9 seed Chaminade Julienne at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at Monroe High School.

Carroll and Greenon earned the fourth and fifth seeds respectively in the D-II Tecumseh bracket. Carroll (13-6) opens postseason play with a 7:30 p.m. Feb. 15 game against ninth seed, Springfield Northwestern. Greenon (11-6) opens up a couple days earlier with a 6 p.m. Feb. 13 battle with no. 8 Bellefontaine. Both games will be played at New Carlisle Tecumseh High School.

In Division IV, area schools Yellow Springs, Xenia Christian and Cedarville emerged as the respective sixth, seventh and eighth seeds for games scheduled to be played at Monroe High School.

Yellow Springs (8-8) will face New Miami for a 3:30 p.m. Feb. 15 first-round game. Eighth-seeded Cedarville (7-12) is in the same bracket and opens up against Dayton Oyler at 2 p.m. that same day in Monroe. Should both Yellow Springs and Cedarville win their first-round games, they would meet in the second round on Feb. 19.

Xenia Christian (8-7) is the bracket’s seventh seed and drew a first-round bye. The Ambassadors will play the winner between no. 12 James Gamble and no. 3 Cincinnati Seven Hills at 6 p.m. Feb. 18 in Monroe.

The boys high school basketball sectional tournament draws will take place on Sunday, Feb. 9.
