AUTO RACING


Kil-Kare waives driver entry fees


XENIA — Kil-Kare Raceway announced it will allow competitors free entry for the three remaining NASCAR Whelen All-American Series race weekends in the 2014 Season. This comes as an effort to improve car count for the loyal fans that have attended all season long.


Competition Director Terry Stacy said he looks forward to seeing as many competitors as would like to come and race the final three races at the Xenia,Ohio facility.


Participating Drivers must have a valid NASCAR License or purchase a temporary license which will cover the final three weeks of racing in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series at Kil-Kare Raceway for 2014. Drivers must have their cars and race the event to gain free entry to the races. All Drivers must sign in at the pit entrance as is standard for all races. Crew members and spectators will still pay respective admission fees. Drivers with any questions can feel free to contact the Kil-Kare Offices at 937-429-2961.


The school bus races will in action on Friday (8/29), along with the NASCAR Whelen All-American Racing Series.


HIGH SCHOOL TENNIS


XENIA 3, SIDNEY 2: The Xenia Buccaneers girls high school tennis team swept the three singles matches to claim a recent win over Sidney. Tarah Crawford, Tabitha Crawford, and Aly Landis each claimed straight-set singles wins, while the doubles duos of Payton McClain-Jodi Collier and Savannah Puckett-Mackayla Moon both lost in straight sets. Xenia (1-4) hosted Lebanon on Tuesday, on the Greene County Fairgrounds courts. Their next scheduled match is Thursday at Troy.


Singles — 1. Tarah Crawford (Xenia) def. Desire Mewton, 6-0, 6-0; 2. Tabitha Crawford (Xenia) def. Marie Butts, 6-1, 6-0; 3. Aly Landis (Xenia) def. Madison Kinslow, 6-1, 6-1.


Doubles — 1. Alexis Hall/Melinda McBride (Sidney) def. Payton McLain/Jodi Collier, 6-0, 6-0; 2. Heidi Parker/McKale Basil (Sidney) def. Savannah Puckett/Makayla Moon, 6-0, 6-2.

Dragons playoff tickets on sale Thursday


DAYTON — Dayton Dragons game no. 1 playoff tickets will go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 28. The Dragons are currently battling to secure a playoff position and hold a lead of 1 1/2 games with seven games to play.


If the Dragons qualify for the playoffs, the first game will be played at 7 p.m., Sept. 3 at Fifth Third Field against an opponent to be determined.


All playoff tickets are only $5. Fans who purchase playoff tickets will receive a full refund if the game is not played.

Firestorm tryouts today


FAIRBORN — The Firestorm Fast Pitch Select girls softball team will be holding team tryouts from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 27 for 10U, 12U and 14U at Fairborn Community Park, located on 691 Dayton-Yellow Springs Road just west of Fairborn High School.

FAIRBORN — The Skyhawk Athletic Club is seeking members for 2014-2015.
