Remembering Robert Impson

By Joan Baxter

XENIA — Robert Impson was a graduate of the Ohio Soldiers’ and Sailor’s Orphans’ Home and often stated that he was happy to have lived and attended school at the Home. His father, a soldier, died when Bob was young, so he and his siblings went to live at the Home. His mother visited as often as possible, bringing socks and other treats. He studied to be a butcher, but when he graduated, he joined the military. Upon completion of his military service he used his GI bill to attend college, got his degree in education and later became the Superintendent of Schools.
