XENIA — Mildred Mason was the lady was short in stature but long in ability. She was only four feet tall and needed a step ladder to reach the files She became a proofreader at the Xenia Daily Gazette, progressed to reporter and finally was the woman’s editor. Her knowledge of the county was vast. She reported about fires, crimes, accidents and once, even her own accident. She was elected president of the Ohio Newspaper Women’s Association in 1949 and received several awards for her writing. She was an active member of the Greene County community.
