XENIA — R. D. Adair had no retail experience, other than having been a traveling salesman for a wholesale glass company. However, he and his brother-in-law bought the Wilson and Lindsey Furniture Store in Xenia in 1886. After his partner died, he purchased the remaining stock and took his sons, C. W. Adair and J. D. Adair into the business. R. D. Adair lived to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Adair Furniture Company.
