CAESARSCREEK TOWNSHIP — Elisha Bales, who was born in Pennsylvania, learned the trade of farming at an early age. He moved to Virginia then in 1806 brought his family to Greene County. He purchased two sections of land on what is now Hook Road in Caesarscreek Township, paying the sum of one dollar and twenty-five cents per acre for the heavily timbered site. With the aid of his sons, he cleared and farmed the land where he lived the remainder of his life.
